TO FRIENDS OF THE BATTLE OF PLATTSBURGH 

In September 1814, soon after the Americans had defeated the British, citizens in Plattsburgh and the surrounding countryside came together to celebrate their victory and commemorations of that important event in history  have continued for more than two hundred years.

In 1998, a small group of volunteers, led by Christopher “Kit” Booth, organized an event known as the “Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration” and that first celebration evolved into an annual tradition. This fall 1814 Commemoration Inc.
will proudly continue the tradition of this beloved North Country event by presenting the “Twenty-fifth consecutive Commemoration”.

For twenty-five years generations of volunteers have worked quietly to research history, develop ideas, plan events, and bring together a wide range of reenactors, demonstrators, and entertainers to present an annual event. A unique “Living History” theme allows both participants and observers to interactively experience what everyday life, and war, was like in the North Country during that time in American history.

On behalf of 1814 Commemoration Inc., and all past and present volunteers, I am pleased to invite friends and neighbors from near and far to join us in Plattsburgh, our host city, September 7 – 11
