1814 Convnemoration Inc. Announces Final Week Events 

for Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration

 

Plattsburgh, NY 

1814 Commemoration Inc. announces schedule of events for the final week of the 2020 Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration. To cap off the 2020 Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration, 1814 Commemoration Inc. is offering a series of virtual and public events. (All public events will strictly adhere to CDC and NYS COVID-19 restrictions. No more than 50 people, social distancing applies. Masks must be worn at all times.) 

Point Au Roche State Park Nature Center 

Starting on September 5th and 6th, between 12pm-3pm visitors to Point Au Roche State Park Nature Center can explore the temporary Nature in the 1800’ss Exhibit. This exhibit will also be open to the public at the same times on weekends of September 12"' and 13"', and September 19"' and 20th.

On Monday September 7"', the Kent-Delord House Museum premiers ""Battle of Plattsburgh Artifacts" series on YouTube. Also, on September7"' at 12:00pm WCAX-TV Across the Fence will air “Prelude to War, Summer of 1814.” 

Public Ceremonies and Displays 

Volunteers from 1814 Commemoration Inc. will be holding public ceremonies of remembrance at the following sites: 

Thursday, September 10" 11am The Battle of Culver Hill Memorial Ceremony 

Culver Hill Historical Park located on State Rt. 22. 2 miles north of intersection of Rte. 374 

Thursday, September 10th 4:30pm Riverside Cemetery Memorial Ceremony 71 Seltzer Road, Plattsburgh 

Thursday, September 10"' 6:00pm Old Post Cemetery Memorial Ceremony Rt 9 and Lake Forrest Dr., Plattsburgh 

Friday, September 11th 11:00am Crab Island Memorial Ceremony 

Boats depart from Peru Dock, 3930 Rt 9, Plattsburgh- starting at 9:00 AM 

(Number of boats ferrying people to island are limited-boarding will be first come first serve basis) 

Saturday, September 12" 9:00an - 4:00pm Military Encampment Displays Plattsburgh City Marina location 

Saturday, September 12"' 11:00am Thomas Macdonough Memorial Monument Ceremony 

City Hall Place, Plattsburgh, NY 

Saturday, September 12th 7:30pm Curbside at Harborside Concert Battle of Plattsburgh and Songs of the North Country Plattsburgh City Marina
